My dad was the most kind, caring and giving man I have known. From a very young age he involved my brothers and I in many fundraisers and local events to give back to the community and to help others less fortunate than ourselves.
In his retired years he spent every Wednesday at the food back at our multi-generation family church St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Brampton. At Christmas time he would enlist my then school age children to come the week of Christmas and help with the food bank as well as the annual Food Bank Christmas Lunch for those in need.
Not only did they learn their grandpa’s values on giving back and helping others they also gained an appreciation at young ages for how fortunate they were to have even just the basic necessities of life.
I’m proud to work for a company that encourages profit beyond purpose and was very happy to donate my share of the Holiday Pay it forward donation to The St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Food Bank in memory of my dad/my hero John Nash.
