Challenge

After experiencing steady year-over-year growth of 10–15% while operating with a 15-year-old ERP system, our client recognized the need for a replacement. Understanding the complexity of ERP transitions, they sought expert support to select the right system, establish a solid foundation for a smooth implementation, and navigate the organizational change effectively.

Discovery

  • Comprehensive Internal Assessment: TPG conducted an in-depth assessment to identify the organization’s ERP needs, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. Engaging over 100 stakeholders through 130 interviews, we documented more than 400 process maps and data flows, along with a detailed technology architecture map. This analysis provided a clear picture of inefficiencies and areas for technological enhancement, forming the foundation for a successful ERP transition.
  • Requirements Development: Building on the documented insights, we translated the findings into 790 clearly defined ERP requirements. These requirements reflected both the organization’s immediate operational needs and long-term scalability goals, serving as the basis for an ERP selection process designed to support future growth.
  • ERP System Evaluation: Armed with a clear understanding of the organization’s needs, TPG facilitated functional reviews and live demonstrations of potential ERP solutions. The evaluation process allowed stakeholders to validate that the proposed system aligned with the defined requirements. By ensuring a transparent comparison of available solutions, key stakeholders were able to align on an ERP system and enter contract negotiations with a strong, well-informed position.
  • Implementation Planning: TPG ensured that the comprehensive internal work—documenting current processes, defining system needs, and identifying opportunities for streamlining—was leveraged in the development of a structured implementation roadmap. This proactive approach positioned the organization for a smooth transition to their new ERP system, minimizing disruption and maximizing long-term value.
